How would you describe your style of music?

Neo Rockabilly, Classic 50's and original songs with a modern production

How did you get into this style of music?

I was a Teddy Boy in England when I was a teenager.  Teddy Boys listen to only 50's Music.

Mostly Rock 'n' Roll, Rockabilly and Doo Wop.  I have been dedicated to 50's Rockabilly since the mid 70's.  I was inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in 2012.

How did you come up with your band name?

Levi Dexter is my name.

What is the background of your band members?

I have played with many bands over the years from Europe and the U.S.A.

Who are they as individuals?

I always play with the most talented musicians available to me.

Where can people purchase your music and or merchandise?

How long has your band been together?

I have been playing Rockabilly music since 1977.

What do you like the most about the Rockabilly scene?

Those involved in the Rockabilly scene are the most devoted to their style.  They live the Rockabilly lifestyle in every way possible.  They are the most fun at events and live to have a good time.

Who are your music idols, who influences your music?

50's influences= Bill Haley & The Comets, Gene Vincent & The Blue Caps, Joe Clay, Warren Smith and Elvis Presley

Contemporary influences= The Blue Cats, The Polecats, Crazy Cavan & The Rhythm Rockers

What future events do you have planned?

I will be playing at the Viva Las Vegas Weekender in April and the Blue Monday Festival in France in April.  Also, the Atomic Festival in England in May.

Do your band members have day jobs or do they make their dime as professional musicians?

They are all full time professional musicians.

Do you or any of your band members collect records?

All the musicians I play with collect records as it is a crucial part of studying the Rockabilly music style.

If so , what do you/ they collect?

Classic and contemporary Rockabilly, Blues boppers, Country & Western, Hillbilly Bop.

What is your most memorable experience at a concert?

There are too many to choose from.  Big festivals in Europe such as the Hemsby Weekender (the longest running weekender) and the Americana Festival in England (60,000 people).  Also, all three of the Green Bay Rockin' Festivals.  Most memorable are the shows in Japan with the Gretsch Brothers.  The Japanese fans are the best.

What is your funniest memory at a concert?

I always thought it was funny when girls would throw panties on stage.  I'm never sure if I should pick them up and if I do, I'm not sure what I should do with them.  Due to the fact that my stage show is so active, I sweat a lot on stage.  One time when I played the Whiskey A Go-Go in Hollywood after a few songs, a whole load of people opened umbrellas!!  That was pretty funny.

Is there anything that you would like to add about yourself or your band?

For me Rockabilly is a life long commitment.  At every show I give 100%.  It is the big thrill of my life.  I will continue to perform as long as it is possible and people still want to see me perform.

Last but not least, what makes you tick?

The physical and spiritual uplift from every show.  The audience give me the response and I give it back double.  I feel no pain or age on stage.  It is the greatest thrill.  This is what I live for.

Levi Dexter, a true Rockabilly idol.  A born Brit, raised in Chelsea.   He now lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife, legendary pinup model and clothing designer Bernie Dexter.  Levi started out as a teddy boy listening to 40's and 50's era music.  His first stage debut happened at the Pier Bar in Southend.  He was in the crowd, singing along as Crazy Cavan and The Rhythm Rockers were performing.  Cavan, invited Levi on stage to sing with them.  This was where it all began.  This became a regular occurence whenever Cavan played at the Pier Bar.  In 1977, Levi was approached by Leee Black Childers and asked if he had considered fronting his own band.  Within weeks, Levi and The Rockats were born.  Leee brought Levi and The Rockats to the U.S. shores in 1978.  They would later split and go their seperate ways in December of 1979.  Levi and The Rockats reunited for a show in Green Bay in 2007 and they will once again reunite this year in April at Viva Las Vegas. Through the years, Levi has held firm to his ideals and vision evolving into the well rounded performer that he is today.  His hard work and dedication have paid off earning him a coveted spot in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.  He is a true Rockabilly legend and has played a large part in paving the way for today's Rockabilly music scene.
